Shift Technology, a leading AI platform for the insurance industry, has launched Shift Claims, a new agentic AI-powered solution designed to transform claims operations.

The Paris-headquartered InsurTech, which specialises in AI-driven solutions for insurers, said the launch of Shift Claims will help carriers improve efficiency and accuracy in claims processing, according to FF News.

The new product supports claims handlers with assessment, prioritisation, automation and decision-making guidance throughout the claims lifecycle.

Founded in 2014, Shift Technology develops artificial intelligence solutions tailored for the insurance sector. Its offerings are designed to reduce fraud, improve claims efficiency and enhance customer experience. The company has integrated generative AI into its products since 2024, with large language models trained on insurance processes and data.

The latest solution, Shift Claims, will apply agentic AI to support insurers by analysing claims, classifying them for complexity and urgency, assisting claims handlers, and automating workflows where possible. The technology is intended to balance automation with human oversight to ensure accurate decision-making while lowering costs and improving customer outcomes.

Eric Sibony, chief scientist and chief product officer at Shift Technology, said, “It is not surprising that the results promised by claims transformation projects over the years have failed to materialize, because most technology based approaches were simply not up to the task of addressing claim complexity. Agentic AI provides insurers with a powerful transformation tool that increases automation when appropriate and also provides the right kind of advice, guidance, and recommendations when a human claim handler needs to be in the loop.”

AXA Switzerland is among the first insurers to adopt Shift Claims. Markus Keller, COO and head of customer operations at AXA Switzerland, said, “We are looking for an AI-powered solution to support our claims transformation and to increase automation while ensuring that claims professionals, when human intervention is required, have all the information available for optimal decision making. The Shift approach to agentic AI gives us confidence that best actions are enabled and taken as claims move through the process, resulting in enhanced efficiency and excellent customer experience.”

According to Shift, early adopters of Shift Claims have reported a 3% reduction in claims losses, a 30% improvement in claims handling speed, a 60% automation rate and more than 99% accuracy in claims assessment. The solution is designed to integrate seamlessly into insurers’ existing core systems as an AI layer, working alongside claims teams.
