Socotra Assistant goes live to improve underwriting productivity

Socotra, a U.S.-based cloud-native insurance platform, has launched Socotra Assistant, an AI underwriting tool embedded in Operations Workbench to improve productivity, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.

The offering is now generally available across all insurance products and geographies. It provides intelligent document import, automated risk assessment insights, and summary generation, allowing underwriters to work more efficiently without compromising security or auditability.

Its platform can be configured within a week and comes with video walkthroughs and full documentation.

“Insurers see high value in AI, but they’re tired of demos and bolt-ons that don’t scale in production,” said Dan Woods, CEO, Socotra. “Socotra is now the only insurance core with built-in AI that is safe, quickly-configured, continually improving, product-agnostic, and available to all customers. Socotra AI is mature AI.”

Because Socotra Assistant is embedded directly in Operations Workbench, it can analyse live policy and billing data in real time. Socotra’s Policy and Billing modules were designed with open APIs, full data fluency, and a flexible insurance data model to enable AI connectivity from the start. This architecture allows the AI to support the entire underwriting process, from evaluating risk to generating structured documentation and audit-ready summaries.

Socotra Assistant has been built to operate safely within regulated insurance environments. All AI actions are human-approved, explainable, and permanently logged in underwriting records. While the assistant adapts to each insurer’s workflows and risk assessment criteria, it does not learn from secure customer data, ensuring operational and regulatory safeguards are maintained.

“Socotra Assistant gives underwriters actionable insights while maintaining full governance and control,” said Woods. “By embedding AI directly into core operations, insurers can scale their workflows safely and efficiently without sacrificing oversight or auditability.”

Insurers interested in Socotra Assistant can access documentation, video walkthroughs, and setup guides. The product is also available for live demonstration at Insurtech Insights Europe, Booth B52, as part of the Insurtech on Tap program.
