Admiral and Flock introduce connected insurance for UK haulage fleets

Flock, a telematics-driven InsurTech, has launched a new haulage fleet insurance product in partnership with Admiral, marking its first major expansion into the commercial haulage segment.

The product combines Flock’s telematics-based risk insights with Admiral’s underwriting and claims expertise, aiming to provide fleet operators with greater visibility into driving behaviour and more control over road safety.

Flock has already deployed its connected insurance model across several commercial fleet segments, including courier, trades, taxi and rental fleets. Within these sectors, fleets participating in the company’s risk management programme have recorded a 10% reduction in claims frequency, helping reduce downtime and lower costs linked to repairs, maintenance and claims handling.

The move into haulage reflects the scale and importance of the UK sector, which contributes £13.5bn to the national economy each year. In 2024, more than 600,000 heavy goods vehicles transported 1.6bn tonnes of goods across the country.

With telematics already widely adopted across fleets, the sector is well positioned to adopt Flock’s data-driven insurance model.

Ed Leon Klinger, CEO of Flock, said, “Flock’s mission is to make the world quantifiably safer; we aim to prevent claims before they even happen. We’re using driving data to price risk more accurately, working directly with fleet operators to reduce crashes, and financially rewarding safer fleets with lower premiums. This launch, in partnership with Admiral, brings Flock’s unique model into the haulage market with an unparalleled level of claims expertise. We look forward to the upcoming completion of Admiral’s acquisition of Flock.”

The new product is designed to support fleets facing rising operating costs, margin pressure and increasing demand for better risk insights.

Emma Huntington, CEO of Admiral Pioneer, said, “Haulage fleets play a vital role in keeping the UK economy moving, connecting businesses, communities and supply chains every single day, and we see a clear opportunity to help them better understand and manage risk on the road.

Flock’s model is also built to prevent risk day to day, not just when something goes wrong. By combining this with Admiral’s underwriting and claims expertise, we believe we can drive meaningful change across the sector.”

At the centre of the offering is the Flock Portal, a self-service platform that allows fleet managers to monitor driving behaviour, track risk trends and manage insurance cover in real time.

Through the portal, operators can review telemetry insights, assess claims performance and add or remove vehicles as fleet composition changes.

Fleet managers also receive tailored support from Flock’s risk management team, including performance optimisation sessions designed to improve driver safety and reduce accident risk.

Participating fleets can earn back up to 10% of their premium through Flock’s rebate programme if they demonstrate safer driving performance.

The new haulage insurance product is available immediately to UK fleet operators and brokers.
