Lemonade Car arrives in Florida to widen US reach

Lemonade, the tech-first insurance company known for using artificial intelligence to simplify cover for renters, homeowners, pet owners and drivers, has switched on its car insurance product for customers across Florida.

The rollout gives Florida motorists access to Lemonade Car, a policy the company has built around the habits of today’s drivers, with the aim of helping them cut costs on cover.

The state is one of the largest car insurance markets in the US, and Lemonade is targeting the large pool of working-age, digitally native drivers based in fast-growing cities such as Miami, Tampa, Orlando and Jacksonville.

The Florida launch pushes Lemonade Car into markets that together account for close to half of the entire US car insurance industry.

Floridians who already hold a Lemonade renters, homeowners or pet policy will also be able to bundle their new car cover alongside these existing products.

Shai Wininger, President and Co-Founder of Lemonade, said, “Florida is one of the largest and fastest-growing personal auto markets in the country, including millions of working-age, digital-native drivers concentrated in fast-growing metros like Miami, Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville.

“These drivers are the type of digital-first consumers who want insurance that’s fast, mobile, and fair, based on how they drive, that gives discounts for cars like EVs, and more.”
