The Zebra, an online platform for comparing and purchasing insurance, has revealed a new agent-to-agent integration with AI personal assistant Muse, aimed at removing the need for consumers to repeatedly input the same details when shopping for cover.
Under the new set-up, Muse will be able to pull relevant policy information and declaration pages straight from documents a user has connected, before passing them on to The Zebra’s agent harness. The company said it plans to extend the same capability to other AI assistants further down the line.
The move tackles a long-standing frustration in the insurance buying process. Customers looking for a new policy typically have to locate their coverage paperwork and fill in personal details, such as their address, vehicles and current policies, again and again across different forms.
Beyond single shopping sessions, the integration also allows consumers to ask their AI assistant to sign them up for The Zebra’s automatic shopping tool. This service checks carrier rates every day and notifies users when they could save money, helping them move away from leaving their insurance untouched once purchased and instead uncovering savings quietly in the background with no extra work on their part.
Privacy has been built into the design of the integration, according to the company. Data passed from a personal AI assistant to The Zebra will not be handed to insurance carriers unless the consumer chooses a particular carrier offer and engages with it on The Zebra’s website. AI agents using The Zebra’s Connector interact with its data harness out of view, meaning no visual adverts or carrier placements are triggered during the process. Such impressions only appear once the consumer reaches the final results page.
The Zebra chief AI officer Daniel Herrington said, “People are already asking their AI assistants to help with everyday tasks, and this now extends to how people are finding ways to save on insurance.
“We want to meet consumers where they are and make the process as easy as possible. With Muse, instead of searching for documents and entering the same information again and again, they can share their details with The Zebra once and go directly to personalized comparison results.”
