Lemonade donates $2.1m in 2025 Giveback

InsurTech company Lemonade has donated more than $2.1m to 45 nonprofit organisations through its 2025 Giveback program.

The latest contributions bring Lemonade’s total charitable giving to over $12m since its founding, with funds distributed to more than 100 nonprofits across the United States and European Union, according to FF News.

“When our customers choose Lemonade, they’re not just protecting their property and pets—they’re opening doors to clean water in dry African countries, rebuilding communities after disasters, and giving homeless youth the chance to dream bigger. That’s the heart of what we do. Every policy becomes a bridge between someone protecting the things they care about most, and someone else getting the help they desperately need. After nine years, I’m still moved by how our community transforms insurance from a transaction into an act of hope,” said Shai Wininger, co-founder and President of Lemonade.

Lemonade’s Giveback model departs from traditional insurance practices by allocating unclaimed premiums to nonprofits selected by policyholders. The company said the 2025 program supported causes including access to clean water for 4,000 people in Uganda, emergency medical aid and wildfire relief for 4,000 Americans, and affordable housing for 30 families across the U.S.

Education-focused initiatives also featured prominently, with funds supporting over 294,000 students in 1,700 schools and providing STEM and college preparation to more than 3,500 homeless youth in New York City.

The company framed the Giveback as a demonstration of how a purpose-driven insurance model can scale while delivering both business value and social impact.
