Global InsurTech funding hit five-quarter high with an increase of 2.4x YoY in Q2
Global InsurTech raised $1.8bn across 53 deals in Q2 2026, the highest level of both funding and deal volume recorded across the five quarter period.
Compared to Q1 2026, funding rose 86% whilst deal volume increased 23%.
Against the same quarter a year earlier, funding was up 2.4x from the $750m raised across 48 deals in Q2 2025, with deal volume also 10% higher.
Average deal size was $15.6m in Q2 2025, rising to $22.6m in Q1 2026 and jumping to $34.1m in Q2 2026, its highest point across the period and a reflection of how significantly the composition of deals has shifted in the most recent quarter.
Large deals rose by 6.3x QoQ which drove the uptick in funding
The breakdown by deal size tells a striking story.
Funding from transactions under $100m came in at $413m in Q2 2026, down 36% from the $650m recorded in Q2 2025 and 45% below the $750m seen in Q1 2026.
Smaller deal activity has visibly cooled.
It is larger transactions that have driven the headline surge, with deals of $100m or more reaching $1.4bn in Q2 2026, 14x the $100m recorded in Q2 2025 and 6.3x the $223m seen in Q1 2026.
It is worth noting that this figure is derived from just five transactions, which underlines how concentrated the Q2 2026 funding total is.
Whilst the headline numbers point to a significant step-up in activity, the reliance on a handful of large deals means the picture may look considerably different should any one of those transactions have fallen in a different quarter.
Corgi, an AI-native full-stack insurance platform purpose-built for startups, raised $160m in a Series B round at a valuation of $1.3bn, marking one of the biggest global InsurTech deals of the second quarter
The round was led by TCV, with participation from a broad group of new and existing investors including Oliver Jung, Leblon Capital, Kindred Ventures, Repeat VC, Zone 2 Ventures, Alumni Ventures and others, bringing total capital raised to over $268m.
Since receiving regulatory approval in July 2025, Corgi has built what it describes as the first AI-native, full-stack insurance carrier designed specifically for startups, managing underwriting, policy operations and claims end to end through modern infrastructure rather than the fragmented legacy systems that have historically defined the sector.
The company is now expanding beyond its initial startup insurance line into new verticals, beginning with trucking, where it aims to bring faster quoting, more adaptive risk models and coverage better aligned with real-world operations.
Proceeds will support broader coverage, deeper distribution and continued investment in the AI systems underpinning the platform.
