Ardonagh Europe unveils pan-European MGA Orvia

Ardonagh Europe, a large insurance distribution and underwriting group, has announced the launch of Orvia Underwriting, a new pan-European Managing General Agent (MGA) platform.

Ardonagh Europe, a large insurance distribution and underwriting group, has announced the launch of Orvia Underwriting, a new pan-European Managing General Agent (MGA) platform.

The launch of Orvia marks a strategic step in Ardonagh Europe’s ambition to build a leading European underwriting business by bringing together its distribution reach, specialist underwriting talent and long-standing insurer partnerships, according to InsurTech Insights.

Headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, the new platform consolidates several Ardonagh-owned MGAs operating across London and other European markets into a single structure with a combined portfolio exceeding €250m in gross written premium.

Orvia has been established to leverage Ardonagh’s existing underwriting and distribution capabilities and to develop centres of excellence for specific products and specialisms across Europe.

Through a unified platform, the business aims to improve connectivity between clients, brokers and capacity partners while enabling faster decision-making and more seamless access to underwriting expertise across multiple markets.

The Orvia brand draws its name from the Celtic word Ór, meaning gold, and the Latin word Via, meaning path.

This reflects the platform’s stated ambition to provide a clear and assured route through the insurance distribution chain, connecting market participants with specialist underwriting solutions.

The trade credit and cyber specialist business of Cooper Gay Germany is the first of Ardonagh’s existing MGAs to transition to the Orvia brand.

Additional Ardonagh-owned MGA businesses based in London and other European markets are expected to join the platform in 2026 as Orvia continues to expand its footprint.

Orvia will focus on developing specialist insurance products designed to meet the evolving needs of clients and brokers.

The platform is positioned to offer trusted service, faster underwriting decisions and consistent access to specialist expertise across both the London market and continental Europe. Alongside this, the business is finalising a panel of long-term capacity partnerships to support continuity, sustainable growth and the creation of new products over time.

Ardonagh Europe CEO Conor D Geraghty said, “Orvia brings together the best of our distribution insight, underwriting expertise and strong insurer partnerships. With market dynamics supporting MGA models, we have a unique opportunity to shape a brighter, more connected future for underwriting across Europe.”
