Nationwide has completed a strategic investment into VitusVet, a platform designed to improve communications between pet owners and vets.
This investment was made to support the development of the mobile solution but is not being made through the insurer’s venture capital fund. The deal follows on from a partnership between the companies which began in 2016.
Nationwide customers will now receive exclusive access to the VitusVet app claims submission function. To date, the insurer’s members have made more than 535,000 claims through the VitusVet app.
VitusVet is a mobile app, available on both android and iOS, and gives users a simple way to text and receive messages and images to their vets.
Through the application, users can file a pet insurance claim through a simple three-step process, only needing to confirm their pet information, add claim information and receipts, and review the claim.
Alongside this, pet owners can use the app to book appointments, monitor the practice’s performance, and access reminders.
Nationwide senior vice president of emerging businesses Peter McMurtrie said, “When Nationwide began our partnership with VitusVet, we saw the potential of how their groundbreaking technology could streamline the process of a customer submitting a pet insurance claim. We, and our members, have seen that potential realized during the past three years.
“This investment will help VitusVet continue their work of finding new and exciting ways to improve the connection between pet owners and pet health care providers.”
