dacadoo to help SOMPO improve its health app through new partnership

Switzerland-based dacadoo, which is a digital transformation company for the healthcare space, has formed a partnership with SOMPO Himawari Life Insurance.

This partnership is aimed at helping SOMPO launch its health app Linkx score.

SOMPO Himawari Life is hoping to become a health support company which motivates customers to have a healthier lifestyle and support their health via insurance. The company’s new digital platform will connect health activities and can use collected data for health risk prediction and illness prevention.

It can achieve this by utilising dacadoo’s Health Score technology. Consumers in Japan will be able to use the SOMPO health app to receive relevant advice and feedback on health activities and lifestyle.

dacadoo collects and analyses medical data from across the globe. The startup helps people live healthier and be more active by using  motivational techniques from behavioural science, online games and social networks, as well as AI and automated coaching.

Insurance firms can leverage the information to improve risk assessments and provide consumers with policies that better meet their lifestyle. Those with healthier lifestyle habits are rewarded with lower premiums.

SOMPO is not the only insurance firm to partner with dacadoo this year. Manulife recently teamed up with dacadoo to strengthen its digital offerings in Asia.

Earlier in the year, dacadoo was awarded “Innovator of the Year” and “Data for Good” by MongoDB.

The 2020 “Innovator of the Year” award is picked out of all other category winners and is based on who “exemplifies to be carrying out the world’s most innovative projects in data.” The “Data for Good” award is given to companies tackling issues affecting society and the planet and helping to improve the world.
