reThought Flood, a private flood MGA, is expanding its distribution through Vertafore, adopting the insurance technology provider’s PL Rating platform to connect its products with independent agencies.
The partnership will make reThought Flood’s private flood products available through PL Rating, a comparative rating platform used by more than 10,000 agents to quote and compare personal lines coverage from more than 320 carriers and MGAs.
Flood activity on the platform reached 6.8 million transactions in 2025. ReThought Flood identified the platform’s scale and existing agency adoption as key factors in its decision to work with Vertafore.
The move comes as changes to FEMA’s flood maps place thousands more residential properties within the high-risk Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA). PL Rating allows agents to generate private flood quotes alongside other personal lines coverage, bringing flood insurance into the wider quoting process.
For reThought Flood, the integration provides access to thousands of independent agencies already using Vertafore’s technology. The company said the connection will help reduce the friction between insurance products and their distribution.
The arrangement forms part of Vertafore’s wider focus on supporting MGA growth through technology covering underwriting, policy administration, distribution, data and AI-enabled workflows.
Vertafore is headquartered in Denver, Colorado, and provides digital systems, AI and data infrastructure to agencies, MGAs and carriers. The company says it serves more than 95% of leading agencies and insurers and handles 50% of compliance transactions across the insurance industry.
