The Claims Portal teams up with CRIF to modernise the claims management process

The Claims Portal, a UK Ministry of Justice-mandated service for managing personal injury claims valued between £5,000 and £25,000, has partnered with CRIF to improve user experience and modernise the claims management process.

The Claims Portal, a UK Ministry of Justice-mandated service for managing personal injury claims valued between £5,000 and £25,000, has partnered with CRIF to improve user experience and modernise the claims management process.

The partnership will achieve this by migrating the Claims Portal’s platform to a new cloud-based system, according to FF News.

The upgrade aims to streamline the navigation, enhance customer functionalities, and integrate external services more seamlessly, responding to a growing demand for efficient claims solutions.

The update is particularly timely, as the UK insurance sector recently recorded £9.9bn in motor claims paid out, with £2.4bn attributed to personal injury claims.

CRIF specialises in digital transformation solutions, offering platforms like its CRIF Foundation Framework (CFF), a robust business process management service tailored for onboarding and workflow digitisation. Its expertise in managing secure, user-centric systems has been instrumental in the Claims Portal’s migration.

The Claims Portal, first introduced in 2010, simplifies personal injury claims handling by enabling users to self-manage claims securely and at no charge. It serves as a vital platform for claimants and insurers, providing unbiased electronic tools to submit and monitor claims.

As part of the upgrade, existing application-to-application (A2A) users benefit from backward compatibility, ensuring no disruption to ongoing operations.

The introduction of a modern Restful API interface, supported by a developer portal, simplifies backend software integration and improves maintenance.

The collaboration between the Claims Portal and CRIF resulted in the successful launch of the cloud-based platform in May 2024. The enhanced system is now equipped to host additional services, ensuring a future-proof infrastructure for evolving user needs.

Sara Costantini, regional director for the UK & Ireland at CRIF, said, “The Claims Portal is an essential service for users who need to process personal injury claims. We are very happy the migration was a success with minimal impact on users. This extends our partnership with Claims Portal driving innovation, offering value-added cloud-based services and improving user experience at the same time.”

Phil Dicken, chair of Claims Portal Limited, added, “Claims Portal has a long and successful history of working with CRIF. This latest upgrade is another example of the commitment, professionalism and reliability of CRIF as CPL’s IT business partner. The team worked diligently to ensure minimum disruption to CPL’s Users and as a result the deployment was a great success. We now look forward to working closely with CRIF on the next phase of the upgrade project, migrating user connectivity to the new Restful API.”
