ChainThat, a leading provider of next-generation InsurTech solutions, has successfully launched its Beyond Policy Administration® (BPA) platform with Cobalt Specialty Inc., a Canadian specialty insurance provider.
The deployment supports Cobalt’s Surety line of business in Toronto, marking a significant step forward in their strategic partnership, which was announced in November 2024.
The introduction of the BPA platform comes as Cobalt Specialty seeks to enhance its ability to deliver tailored, high-impact insurance products for complex sectors.
The company identified a need for greater adaptability, speed to market, and support for specialised lines of business—particularly in Canada’s evolving commercial insurance landscape.
ChainThat provides advanced InsurTech solutions aimed at transforming traditional insurance operations. Its platform supports insurers, managing general agents (MGAs), and brokers by streamlining policy administration and enabling efficient digital transformation through scalable, cloud-native systems.
The BPA platform is designed to simplify the policy lifecycle through a modular, API-driven architecture.
It enables users to manage product configuration, rating, quoting, binding, billing, and reporting, providing end-to-end support for underwriters, operations teams, and distribution partners. Its flexible structure is particularly suited to complex and rapidly changing commercial insurance environments.
In addition to Cobalt’s Surety line in Toronto, the BPA platform is already in use across insurance operations in the United States and Australia.
The recent launch in Canada represents another milestone in ChainThat’s global expansion, as more insurers look to modernise their infrastructure through scalable SaaS solutions.
Cobalt Specialty selected ChainThat for its collaborative approach and ability to deliver a best-in-class offering tailored to Cobalt’s specific business requirements. The partnership positions both companies for future growth across additional commercial lines in Canada.
Cobalt Specialty COO & Founding Partner Gordon Rider said, “Partnering with ChainThat has been a great experience. The team worked more like a partner than a vendor, taking the time to understand our business and needs in order to provide a best-in-class scalable offering. ChainThat has delivered a flexible platform that allows us to launch, adapt, and scale our offerings efficiently. With BPA, we are now well positioned to support the evolving needs of Canadian industries.”
ChainThat CEO Vikas Acharya said, “The successful implementation with Cobalt Specialty is a great example of what our BPA platform is built for – flexibility, speed, and the ability to support complex lines of business. We’re thrilled to help Cobalt deliver high-impact solutions to the Canadian market and look forward to expanding our partnership to support their growth in other commercial lines.”
