Bamboo Insurance, a technology-enabled managing general underwriter specialising in homeowners’ coverage, has rolled out its new Essential homeowners programme, an HO2 product aimed at buyers seeking straightforward, affordable protection.
The Essential offering has been built around core coverage delivered quickly and clearly, giving homeowners a low-cost route to securing insurance. It is pitched at both homebuyers and existing owners who need a practical option amid constrained availability.
Notably, the programme is structured to take on a wider spread of properties than many admitted market products, including ageing homes and those with a history of prior claims. Eligible properties span owner-occupied primary residences alongside seasonal and secondary homes.
Bamboo Insurance operates as an underwriting-first, capital-light MGU built for the modern insurance landscape. The company embeds AI and automation throughout its underwriting, claims and distribution operations, blending carrier-grade, data-led underwriting rigour with proprietary insight and sector expertise. This combination, alongside the flexibility of the MGU structure, enables quicker quote-to-bind times, sharper pricing and careful risk selection.
Bamboo Insurance CEO John Chu said, “The Essential program is another step in our ongoing commitment to providing reliable, accessible insurance for Californians. As coverage options become more limited and affordability remains a challenge, we’re focused on making it easier and faster for homeowners to get the core protection they need.”
