Liberty Mutual Reinsurance Group (LM Re), the reinsurance arm of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has named Tom Spurgeon as its new global head of cyber reinsurance.
The London-based executive will report to Susan Barber, who leads financial risks within the reinsurance business. His remit centres on expanding LM Re’s worldwide cyber book, alongside partnering with brokers and cedents to shape structured solutions for cyber risk.
Spurgeon steps into the role after nine years with the firm, during which he has built a strong profile across the reinsurance sector. His standing was recently underlined when his leadership on the International Underwriting Association of London’s Cyber Reinsurance Committee earned industry recognition.
The appointment fills the position vacated by Ivonne Staisch, who has departed the company to pursue opportunities elsewhere.
LM Re operates as part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, offering reinsurance capabilities including cyber cover to clients and brokers globally.
