Guidewire unveils AI agent framework for insurers

Guidewire, the InsurTech platform used by more than 570 insurers across 43 countries, has launched its Agentic Framework as part of its new Qusar release, giving property and casualty carriers the ability to build, deploy and manage AI agents on the Guidewire Cloud Platform.

The framework lets insurers select the most suitable AI model for each individual task, while giving agents secure, real-time access to policy, claims and billing data and workflows. This is designed to let lengthy, multi-step processes run without manual intervention, cutting decisions that previously took days down to minutes.

Qusar also brings a set of Guidewire-built agents aimed at specific insurance tasks. A claim summarisation tool for ProNavigator gives adjusters condensed claim overviews so they can spend more time on complicated cases rather than reading through notes manually. A policy change agent for ProNavigator acts as a built-in assistant supporting underwriters and customer service staff in processing policy amendments more quickly, with the aim of shortening turnaround times and improving quote-to-bind ratios. An agentic first notice of loss tool uses conversational AI voice technology to walk claimants through reporting a loss and gathering key claim information, intended to enhance the customer journey.

The release additionally introduces Developer and Builder Assistants built to understand Guidewire’s code base, programming languages, design patterns and configurations. These tools support development work across Gosu, Guidewire’s Java-compatible programming language, alongside Integrations, the Jutro digital platform, and serverless Functions extensions.

On the data side, a Data Curation Assistant for Data Studio turns natural language requests into accurate SQL queries, while a Product Design Assistant for Advanced Product Designer helps automate the configuration of insurance products.

Celent executive partner Karlyn Carnahan said, “Insurers are increasingly recognising that AI value comes from deep integration with core business processes, not from isolated experimentation.

“Agentic Framework addresses this directly by letting insurers deploy AI within their existing systems and workflows while maintaining operational control and compliance.”

Guidewire chief product development officer Diego Devalle said, “By building the Agentic Framework directly into Guidewire Cloud Platform, we are giving developers and AI builders the tools to engineer and safely deploy insurance-aware AI agents into their daily operations.”
