ERGO NEXT Insurance, the digitally focused insurer serving small businesses, has rolled out an AI-driven property inspection tool that cuts a process that once took days down to roughly 15 minutes for commercial property insurance customers.
The self-service tool lets entrepreneurs carry out and submit their own commercial property insurance inspections. It uses vision AI to give business owners live instructions as they move through each step, offering a quicker and more adaptable route to commercial property cover designed around their specific business.
Inspections remain an essential stage in securing commercial property insurance, but business owners have typically had to wait between five and 10 days for a field inspector to visit their premises in person. ERGO NEXT aims to overturn this dated approach by letting business owners handle the inspection themselves at a time that suits them.
The insurer said efficiencies gained through AI mean it can widen the availability of commercial property cover, while reducing the time both the firm and its policyholders spend on inspections.
The new tool forms part of ERGO NEXT’s wider push into AI-native insurance products intended to make business cover simpler and less time-consuming for entrepreneurs to obtain. It is also the first feature to be co-sponsored by ERGO NEXT and the ERGO Group, Munich Re’s main insurance arm, following the 2025 acquisition. The partnership pairs ERGO NEXT’s digital-first model with ERGO’s international insurance know-how and scale, with the aim of driving further product and technology development.
The AI inspection capability is live now for small businesses that deal with ERGO NEXT directly.
ERGO NEXT chief product officer Effi Fuks-Leichtag said, “Small business owners already have enough priorities competing for their time.
“Getting the right insurance shouldn’t require them to put their day or week on hold waiting for an inspection. ERGO NEXT is the first small business insurer to offer this AI-native, self-guided inspection model as part of a fully-digital purchase experience. It’s a key step toward our ultimate goal of making insurance easier to understand, accessible, and affordable for small businesses.”
