Amarillo taps Five Sigma to improve insurance data flows

Insurance technology companies Amarillo and Five Sigma are joining forces to address a persistent challenge in delegated authority operations: bringing claims information together with the data insurers use to monitor performance.

The partnership will see Five Sigma join Amarillo’s PartnerOrbit network, alongside a technical integration between its AI-native claims management system and Amarillo’s Fusion platform.

The connection is designed to feed claims information directly into delegated authority reporting, reducing the need for manual data transfers and giving insurance businesses a more joined-up view of their portfolios.

For insurers and managing general agents (MGAs), claims performance is a key measure of how effectively a binder is operating. However, claims records are often held separately from bordereaux and other reporting information, making it harder to build a complete picture of exposure and losses.

By linking the two platforms, the companies aim to make that information easier to access and use. The integration is expected to reduce duplicate data entry, limit inconsistencies and cut the time spent checking and reconciling records.

Better access to claims information could also help coverholders and insurers identify discrepancies sooner, monitor delegated authority arrangements more closely and make decisions based on more reliable reporting.

The agreement brings together two platforms serving different parts of the insurance process. Five Sigma supports claims teams and adjusters throughout the claims lifecycle, from first notification of loss (FNOL) through to settlement, using AI-driven capabilities to support more efficient processing.

Amarillo’s technology focuses on delegated authority data management, with its Fusion, Dash and AIDAr products designed to help businesses manage and analyse bordereaux information.

The companies will also explore joint commercial opportunities, with a focus on extending their combined offering to MGAs, brokers, insurers and reinsurers.

The deal comes as insurers look to modernise their technology stacks and introduce greater automation. However, disconnected systems can create additional work for teams if information cannot move easily between platforms.

Rather than relying on one provider for every operational requirement, insurance businesses increasingly need specialist applications that can work together and share data. Interoperability has also featured in Lloyd’s plans for the market, with CEO Patrick Tiernan previously describing the direction as “an ecosystem of intelligent solutions, built on common data standards and interoperability.”

Amarillo managing director Zoe Steele said, “Understanding claims performance is an important part of the wider picture for any delegated authority business. The challenge is bringing that information together with the other data insurers and MGAs rely on, in a way that doesn’t create extra work. Our integration with Five Sigma is a step towards making those connections easier.”

Five Sigma CTO and co-founder Michael Krikheli said, “Fragmented data and manual processes can make it harder for insurers and MGAs to modernise claims, especially in the London Market’s delegated authority business. Amarillo’s deep expertise in this area, and working together gives customers support across both claims management and DA reporting.”

Amarillo chief growth officer Amechi Peirce-Howe added, “Working in effective partnerships like this one with Five Sigma allows us to solve even more of our customers’ problems, and reduces so much of the friction that has constrained delegated authority operations for so long. We look forward to developing this partnership further.”
