Corvus opens Atlanta office, names new cyber underwriting VP

Corvus Insurance has opened a new office in Atlanta, as the InsurTech brings in Joel Fehrman as vice president of cyber underwriting.

Corvus provides a digital insurance platform which partners major insurers and acts as a general managing agency. The AI-driven platform uses novel data sources to inform underwriting and provide ongoing loss prevention recommendations and business intelligence.

The announcement follows the launch of the Corvus’ Los Angeles and Dallas offices earlier this year and the close of its $10m Series A round led by .406 Ventures and Hudson Structured in November 2018. Last year, Bain Capital also made a $4m growth equity investment into the business.

Fehrman will be based in Corvus’ new Atlanta office and brings more than 10 years of Insurance experience from roles at Beazley, XL Group and CNA Financial. He will now focus on underwriting the company’s Smart Cyber Insurance policy for clients across the Southeast of the US

“We are thrilled to have someone as expert in cyber underwriting as Joel Fehrman on board,” said Corvus CEO and Founder Phil Edmundson. “And with the Atlanta office, Corvus will be able to meet the growing demand for our Smart Commercial Insurance™ policies in the Atlanta area, Florida and other key southeast markets.”

Earlier this year the start-up released its new Smart Cyber Excess Insurance product lines.
