Startups have been invited to compete for £50,000 in prizes in the Insurathon, an annual competition dedicated to driving innovation in the insurance sector.

Hosted by global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright, the event supports emerging businesses with pro bono legal advice and potential equity investment.

Since its launch in 2017, the Insurathon has delivered over £275,000 in pro bono advice and funding to help innovators scale their solutions.

This year’s prizes include £25,000 in pro bono legal and regulatory advice from Norton Rose Fulbright’s market-leading insurance practice and a potential £25,000 equity investment.

The competition focuses on start-ups and scale-ups advancing insurance technology, including AI, blockchain, dynamic pricing, and analytics.

All applicants benefit from a one-on-one legal clinic, while finalists receive additional pro bono sessions during the competition.

Applications close on Thursday, 6 February 2025, with finalists announced on Friday, 7 February. The competition day, scheduled for 13 February, offers participants a platform to pitch their solutions.

Notable past winners include JustParent, InsurX, and Nexus Mutual, which have leveraged their wins to drive significant industry impact.

Gilbert Harrap, CEO of InsurX, commended the initiative, “The advice and support we’ve received from Norton Rose Fulbright off the back of winning their Insurathon competition has tangibly helped us turbocharge our growth as the independent digital exchange for the corporate and specialty insurance market.”
