Can Curant.ai solve insurance’s claims complexity problem?

Curant.ai, an AI-powered InsurTech platform focused on modernising insurance claims, has secured $3.1m in seed funding as insurers look to move from early AI experiments towards broader adoption across core operations.

The funding round was led by Diagram, with participation from Humania Insurance, Element Ventures, Blue Plains Capital and several angel investors. Curant.ai said the capital will be used to expand its platform, strengthen commercial partnerships and develop AI solutions designed for different insurance lines.

The raise comes as insurers face increasing pressure to improve efficiency, reduce operational costs and modernise legacy claims processes while maintaining regulatory standards. Curant.ai is aiming to address these challenges by providing an AI intelligence layer that supports claims teams with automation, data extraction, workflow management and decision support.

The company’s first product focuses on disability claims, an area where insurers often manage complex documentation, manual reviews and fragmented data sources. Curant.ai said its platform helps automate administrative tasks, allowing claims professionals to spend more time on customer interactions and higher-value decisions.

The technology integrates with existing insurer systems and provides source-backed insights, configurable workflows and enterprise-grade security features. Curant.ai said transparency and compliance are central to its approach, with AI designed to support rather than replace human decision-making.

Founded by AI entrepreneur John Haller, Curant.ai operates around its “Humans First, Better Outcomes Follow” philosophy, which focuses on using AI to improve efficiency, consistency and productivity across insurance operations.

Curant.ai founder and CEO John Haller said, “Insurance isn’t facing a technology problem—it’s facing a complexity problem. Claims professionals spend too much of their day searching for information, navigating fragmented systems, applying consistent policies, and completing administrative work instead of helping customers.”

“AI should remove that complexity, not add to it. We built Curant.ai to become the trusted intelligence layer that works alongside insurance professionals, enabling faster decisions, stronger compliance, and better outcomes without replacing the expertise that insurers depend on,” Haller said.

Humania Insurance SVP Luc Thibault added, “Our team got excited last year with the potential of continuing Humania’s legacy of technology innovation with an investment into Curant.ai that helped drive our strategic vision for AI while at the same time solving an acute issue with disability and life operations.

“Curant.ai has exceeded original expectations with their safe and secure intelligence layer that sits on top of our system of record and is a game changer for our claim associates’ efficiency, consistency, and job satisfaction. It is important to note that the AI serves as a facilitator and accelerator in this process; the final decision always rests with our experts, who retain full control and accountability over every claim outcome,” he added.
