Najm for Insurance Services Company, a Saudi-based provider of comprehensive insurance solutions, has announced a new telematics initiative aimed at improving road safety across Saudi Arabia.
This initiative is launched in partnership with Cambridge Mobile Telematics (CMT), known for their AI-driven DriveWell Fusion® platform, and AiGeNiX, a leader in AI-based analytics with significant regional presence.
By collecting and analysing driving data, the initiative seeks to reduce accidents and enhance overall road safety in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives.
Najm, established in 2007, plays a pivotal role in advancing the vehicle insurance sector within Saudi Arabia. The company offers a wide range of insurance services to citizens, residents, and visitors across 44 cities in the Kingdom, supported by a skilled Saudi workforce.
During the signing ceremony held at the Mövenpick Hotel Riyadh, senior executives from Najm, CMT, and AiGeNiX were joined by leaders from the insurance industry, including representatives from the “Insurance Authority” and “Saudi Insurance”.
The telematics initiative involves installing a smart device in vehicles to measure various driving elements such as speed, acceleration, braking, and adherence to traffic regulations. This data is analysed to assess drivers’ risk levels and provide actionable insights aimed at improving driving behaviour and safety.
Mr. Mohammed Y. Al Shehri, CEO of Najm, emphasised the importance of this initiative, stating, “This initiative reflects Najm’s continuous role in advancing technology that improves services and empowers the insurance and safety sectors to reduce driving risk. This initiative will help reduce crashes and death rates, and protect everyone from road hazards, helping meet the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals.
“Through pioneering technology and strategic partnerships with global leaders like CMT and AiGeNiX, Najm is setting a new standard for road safety in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The initiative not only works to improve driving standards but also creates a qualitative shift in driving behaviour and insurance practices, which will enhance safety for all road users, enabling a safer and smarter driving environment across the country,” he continued.
William V. Powers, co-founder and CEO of CMT, added, “CMT has rapidly expanded worldwide in the past few years. Today, we power the most sophisticated mobility programs in the world, making roads and drivers safer on five continents, protecting millions of people every day. We are thrilled to partner with Najm on this groundbreaking telematics initiative and to bring safer roads to Saudi Arabia.
“With our DriveWell Fusion platform, we can provide insights into driving behaviours that not only help reduce crashes and save lives in Saudi Arabia, but inspire the next generation of infrastructure projects across the Kingdom. This collaboration with Najm is a critical step toward meeting the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals and creating safer, smarter roads for everyone, remarked Powers.
Najm has already begun collaborating with various insurance companies to adopt the new telematics system, encouraging customers to use sensors that monitor driving behaviour and compliance with traffic rules.
This system adheres to international best practices, enhancing insurance operations and services. Drivers can also earn rewards and discounts on their vehicle insurance based on their driving habits.
