Gradient AI, a prominent enterprise software provider, has partnered with Michigan Planners, a full-service insurance agency, to provide more accurate risk assessments and better-customised health plans.

Previously, Michigan Planners faced limitations in data and staff bandwidth, which hindered its ability to fully assess risk for employer groups.

By incorporating Gradient AI’s SAIL™ underwriting solution, Michigan Planners can now offer deeper insights into risk, allowing its clients to make more informed decisions while saving on costs.

The SAIL platform has significantly enhanced Michigan Planners’ ability to assess risk. This platform generates detailed insights that allow Michigan Planners to have more strategic conversations with its clients, ultimately resulting in better-tailored group health plans.

In one instance, SAIL helped identify that self-funding was not a viable option for a rapidly growing client after an acquisition, saving the company tens of thousands of dollars.

Additionally, the SAIL platform enables Michigan Planners to address unique situations, such as high claims costs, high employee turnover, and companies undergoing mergers.

This allows for more accurate risk projections and enables smaller groups to track claims and plan performance more effectively.

Prior to adopting the SAIL platform, Michigan Planners could only rely on past claims data, which limited its ability to predict future risks and costs.

Aaron MacDonald, chief strategy officer at Michigan Planners, explained, “We use SAIL to give our clients better insight and a better prognosis into claims. Prior to using SAIL, we could only look through the rear-view mirror at past claims data. Now we can look through the windshield to better predict what costs our clients can expect to incur. With the speed, quick turnaround, and insights we’ve gained, SAIL has more than paid for itself.”

Stan Smith, CEO and founder of Gradient AI, added, “Michigan Planners is an excellent example of how the SAIL solution can help insurance agencies better serve their clients. By providing a deeper understanding of risk and offering more actionable insights, Michigan Planners is customising health plans to their clients’ unique needs, improving outcomes and driving cost savings. We are proud to partner with them in changing how employee benefits are delivered.”
