AXA, the global insurance and asset management group, has entered into a strategic partnership with Publicis Sapient, a technology company specialising in enterprise AI platforms and services, to push forward the next stage of its AI transformation.
The tie-up is centred on scaling AXA’s “Global AI Hub”, a project designed to help AI agents be deployed safely, securely and responsibly across the insurer’s operations at greater speed. Through shared, standardised and global foundations for AI agents, the Hub aims to cut both time-to-market and cost, freeing AXA’s various entities to focus on generating business value instead of building their own AI infrastructure from scratch.
The partnership brings together AXA’s expertise in insurance, artificial intelligence and responsible AI use with Publicis Sapient’s specialist AI talent and enterprise engineering capabilities.
The move builds on progress already made with the Group-wide, vendor-agnostic Global AI Hub, the first version of which launched in July and is now being used by five AXA entities.
The platform gives the Group a secure base from which to build, govern and run AI capabilities, allowing solutions to move from initial concept through to full production more efficiently. It is also intended to support technology independence and to embed governance, FinOps, SafetyOps, security, compliance and human oversight at every stage of the AI lifecycle, while improving how specific capabilities and large language models are allocated and orchestrated across different use cases in a cost-effective way.
AXA teams in Germany, France, Switzerland and the UK, along with AXA XL, are already building use cases on the platform, covering areas including motor claims automation, processing of customer emails and enterprise knowledge management.
The expanded partnership marks a further step in AXA’s drive to industrialise AI across the Group. The insurer said it plans to keep strengthening its AI-driven capabilities and promoting responsible AI practices as its use of enterprise AI grows, while maintaining human oversight over decisions that are critical to the business.
AXA group chief technology & AI officer and chief executive officer of AXA Group Operations Matthieu Caillat said, “Artificial intelligence represents a unique opportunity to enhance our innovation capabilities, support our employees and better serve our customers. As we continue to scale AI across the Group, our priority is to combine safe and efficient artificial intelligence, strong governance and practical business applications that create lasting value.
“Publicis Sapient brings together specialist AI expertise, enterprise AI solutions and global experience that will help us accelerate AI adoption consistently across our organization, while maintaining the governance and flexibility required in a highly regulated business.”
Publicis Sapient head of financial services EMEA & APAC David Murphy said, “Enterprise AI delivers the greatest value when it combines deep industry expertise with strong engineering foundations. We are excited to partner with AXA to establish the enterprise AI capabilities, engineering approaches and the necessary governance to accelerate AI adoption securely and consistently across the Group in support of AXA’s long-term AI ambitions.”
